Welcome to There She Is Miscellaneous

Welcome to my little corner of the larger blogosphere. I decided to call this blog There She Is Miscellaneous, because it won't be about anything in particular. BTW: you can sing it. It goes to the tune of There She Is Miss America. Yeah, I know, the pageant has fallen out of favor, but what the heck. It was part of our beloved culture for many years. Until we all had our consciousness raised and the queens took it over as a spoof fund raiser called "Miss Camp America". Besides it is funny to think about Burt Parks singing There She Is Miscellaneous.

Miscellaneous speaks to my many interests. I like to write short stories and they may appear here from time to time. I am a news and political junkie. I am a liberal, yellow dog Democrat so if you are a neocon, you might want to bail right now. You may disagree and have differing opinions, but you must remain civil when posting your comments or forever hold your peace and/or piece. I hold a bachelors degree in fine art with emphasis in advertising and graphic design. I have many years of experience in the printing industry as an art department and pre-press manager. Recently I worked for a major supplier of graphic design outsourcing for one the largest direct mail advertisers and printers in the US as a project manager and team lead. I enjoy water color painting. I like messing around with PhotoShop. I am deeply devoted to my family and friends. My granddaughter is the finest kind and there is to be another grandchild this spring. I am pretty jazzed about that to put it mildly. I will try not to bore you with grandchild stories or bragging, but I won't promise it. I love cars. I don't love them as much as I adore my grandchild, but I do hold a special affection for the automobile.

Currently I drive a 2001 VW Bug. I bought it, because I was bored and annoyed with the lack of design in cars. At the time, all the new cars looked like lima beans. At least my lima bean is cute. It is gold. My golden bug. I love that car. It is fun to drive. It is a return to my youth. The first car that my ex-husband and I owned was a used VW Bug, the second was a brand new yellow VW Bug. I loved both of those cars. Then parenthood happened and a move to Houston, so we bought a big Ford. I hated it. I am short and I could not see out of it. I started lobbying for a Volvo for the safety of my son in the back seat. I won that one easily. Loved that car. Drove like a dream. It was a five speed standard in the floor. My ex-husband kept blaming me for all the clutches that we went through in all the cars that we owned including the Carmen Ghia that we restored. Well, after we divorced (not over the clutches, well, not the car clutches anyway) I never had to replace the clutch in any of the Hondas that I owned with standard shifts. Odd? Huh.

I used to know a lot about the workings of a car. Not anymore. Gone are the simple carburetors, replaced with fuel injectors and computers. Lift up the hood and I recognize the engine compartment and that is about it. It is kind of like looking at the economy. I see it is there, but I don't understand how it works anymore.

More later. For now, just welcome.

  2. Thanks for sending me the link. I'll be a frequent visitor, if not a commentator. BTW, Coulter's mother would be Cruella DeVille :-)
